Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has introduced its latest model in the premium MPV segment: the Xpeng X9. With a futuristic design and advanced technology, the X9 targets upscale family car buyers and positions itself as a serious rival to the Denza D9 and ZEEKR 009.
Modern Design with a Clean Look
At first glance, the Xpeng X9 brings a sleek and futuristic appearance. The front features stacked headlights and a continuous LED light strip stretching across the fascia. A hexagonal lower grille design evokes similarities to the Toyota Alphard LM but with a more minimalist, refined execution.
Measuring 5.29 meters in length, this MPV is indeed large, but the sloping rear roofline helps mask its actual size. This design gives it a slimmer, more aerodynamic look compared to other boxy MPVs in its class.
The vehicle rides on 20-inch wheels paired with Michelin e-Primacy tires, which are optimized for electric vehicles. A polished Xpeng logo on the center hub adds a touch of elegance, especially in the black color variant.
Adaptive Suspension and Rear-Wheel Steering
A major highlight of the X9 is its adaptive air suspension system on all four wheels. Drivers can adjust the ride height by up to 4 cm up or down, enhancing comfort and drivability on various road conditions.
More impressively, the X9 is equipped with rear-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 5 degrees. This gives the X9 a turning radius of just 5.4 meters, making it easier to maneuver than many mid-size MPVs—an unexpected advantage for a vehicle of this size.
Spacious, Premium Cabin
Inside, the Xpeng X9 offers an ultra-roomy cabin with three rows of seats. The second row is the showstopper, featuring zero-gravity seats, massage functions, full electric adjustments, and fold-out tray tables—ideal for working or relaxing on the go.
Between the second-row seats sits a built-in mini fridge that can store up to eight bottles and chill down to 0°C. This fridge can be controlled via voice command, adding to the car’s high-tech appeal.
Entertainment is top-notch. Passengers have access to a 21-inch touchscreen TV, which can be stowed away when not in use, and an immersive 23-speaker sound system.
Each seat includes 50W wireless charging and USB-C ports. The air conditioning system uses a diffuse airflow system with thousands of micro vents, creating a shower-like cooling effect throughout the cabin.
